This is very confusing to me "Not by works". All the good deeds we do will not get us into heaven. I know that sucks. would it not be great if we where able to get into heaven because you are a good person. Sorry it doesn't work that way.
I have done some bad thing in life and that is ok. Not really, but it is but Call them what they are they are failures you have had in your life. lessons, character building blocks. We are loved by God unconditionally. Does not matter what we do in our days if from your heart want the forgives of God and except Him and his forgivess you will be releaved of sin.
Titus 3:4-6
4 When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done,
but because of his mercy.
He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,
Going in to the kingdom of Heaven?
