When I eat we all eat. That means if you are in a position where you have excess and other have nothing you are kind of obligated to feed them. I Don't think feeding those who are just looking for a hand out is a good idea. Allow that person the opportunity into earning it. That will do many thing having someone earn something, but if it is food the food will taste better. 

But God wants us to help those who can not help them selves. The truly needy are the people who are really not able to get up and go to work. The truly helpless. 

This one strong man was once an unstoppable tank he put  food on his dinner table and the tables of many other families. Now the man is helpless he can not do anything. he was so concerned with giving to other people he forgot able taking care of him self. It is very sad to see this. But even in the condition he is in God has blessed him. With all the good he has done for other there are people who are willing to go to the extra mile for this guy, 

Another story is when I was working with the owner of the company, and old man and we were laying asphalt one very hot summer day and there was not enough water for everyone. One of the guys was handing out the water to everybody and when he was handing it to the owner who was working very hard he turned it down and made sure everyone else had enough before taking any for him self. 

Many think hording things all for themselves will somehow bring them joy, put them on a pedestal but neither of those is will happen if we are not out share what we have. The Lord has given us so much. Maybe in wealth, time, freedom and what we do with our blessing is completely up to us. Let me suggest that we give to others or at the very least just share. Share the time we have with someone instead of zoning out in front of the TV or the next business venture.
